 The picture doesn't match the product!May 21, 2009

I hate to make my rating so poor for a toy that is well-made, safe, and may even have some educational value, encouraging kids to look into different dog breeds. I feel like I have no choice, however, considering I was mislead by both this image on Amazon and the image on the Douglas website[...]
On both websites, the 16" Australian cattle dog appears to be identical to the 9", aside from the fur inside the ears of the 9" being brown. Both sizes are depicted as true to the breed, with their bluish-gray coats mottled with black. Both also look to have a patch over only the left eye.
But neither of these descriptions is true to the appearance of the actual toys. The coat is in fact quite spotted, not at all how the pattern should look, and both eyes are covered with a patch. I've since emailed Douglas telling the company I've been mislead by its website images and have suggested they post new, accurate images of all the breeds offered. The woman who responded admitted the images weren't true to the real thing and agreed they should be updated.
This is my warning to any potential Douglas customers: Buy with caution. Don't trust images of any Douglas toys on eBay, Amazon, or similar sites if the images are the same as those from the Douglas site. And I wouldn't assume all breeds except the Australian cattle dog really look how they appear on the Douglas website. Be skeptical of the coat colors and markings and whether the toy can really stand up or if it is too flimsy.

"ACD Lover"
We recently has adopted our second ACD. We were looking under Amazon.com for items to proudly wear but instead saw this toy. When we received it I took pictures and showed my freinds and family of both the toy and our ACD. Too cute and a perfect match together. The toy looked like our Olivia's baby pup.
I do agree the body is a little more "spotted" than an actual ACD but the "Plush Bell Australian Cattle Dog 16" was true to the breed.
We love the great look alike and will keep it for a long time.

I absolutely love this toy! I've owned cattle dogs since 1992 and adore the breed, as do almost all of my friends. When this toy first became available through Amazon, I bought two 9" toys immediately. My recent purchase of the 16" toy was a gift for a friend who recently lost her beloved 16 year old ACD. The toy's adorable, and I intend to purchase more. The only negative is that my dogs want to play with the toys, so I must keep mine in a special, very high location. As for the review that cited that the dog's mask was not as pictured, my purchases also had a mask covering both eyes. This isn't a problem for me, as my first ACD had a mask identical to the toys: one that covered both her eyes. The AKC registered ACD I own now, named Tessa, doesn't have any mask covering her eyes at all. So, although the one eye patch is very cute, I'm very happy with these toys.
